  5. BBS Adverts Cleaner V2.5 is a new release from Escape's Tool section.
  6. This version deletes much more BBS Adverts as the previous version.
  7. The Cleaner knows at the moment 2880 (+1324) BBS adverts of 445 (+93)
  8. different boards.
  9.  
  10. This programm deletes useless files (such as info files from curriers) and
  11. files with 0 bytes length will be deleted as well.
  12.  
  13. Here's a list with some boards which are known by the cleaner (only BBS's
  14. with 5 or more known ads are listed).

  109. You may wonder why the Cleaner uses only about 40 KB. Well, all adverts got a
  110. CRC and the cleaning routine checks for the length and the right CRC.
  111. All in all the 2880 adverts use more than 10 MB of data.

  113. The cleaner creates two files in your root directory of C:
  114.  
  115. bbsclean.inf > This file keeps some information about the deleted files
  116.              > which are shown in bbsclean.txt
  117.  
  118. bbsclean.txt > This file shows all knows BBS with the known and deleted ads.
  119.              > Furthermore it shows the 'at all' deleted bytes.

  123. How to use the programm:
  124. ------------------------

  126. The programm checks all files in the current directory. No packed files are
  127. supported. So just start it with BBSCLEAN.EXE
  128.  
  129. If you want to delete adverts from your archives then it's useful to do it
  130. with RCVT (Archive Converter; an enclosed tool in RAR distribution package).
  131. Just insert the following line into RCVT.CFG
  132.  
  133. scan c:\dos\bbsclean.exe    [If you've copied it into c:\dos for example]

  135. All sysops can use this tool in their upload routines. Sorry, but as I'm no
  136. sysop I can't give you some more informations. But it should be no problem
  137. as you can insert external programms (for example virus scanners) in your
  138. upload routines. If someone can give me detailed informations than feel free
  139. to contact me.
